Women’s harmony singing circle

In Soulwind the focus is on the experience of singing together, deep listening and becoming one through the song.

Soulwind has been going for over 15 years and is led by Ali Mills. Ali leads songs by ear, often about the land, peace, love and hope - all in three part harmony. Soulwind is about the experience of singing in the moment, not preparing for something or someone else. It’s about this circle of women singing together in this moment. Over time Ali has built up a vast repertoire of songs, and at each event some will be new to you and some you will know.

‘Just wanted to say thank you for the beautiful soulful singing, it was absolutely perfect.’

- Julia

Soulwind runs weekly in Cove on a Thursday evening and monthly in Glasgow on a Sunday afternoon. There are also one off singing events often on beaches, on hilltops, in a beautiful chapel on the Cowal Peninsula and a new singing weekend on the Isle of Lismore.

Ali has held many fundraising sings for peace, on the Isle of Bute, in the Glasgow Gorbals, Kilcreggan and on the beach at Peaton Leyo. In 2013 she created a Soulwind Songline coast to coast across Scotland from Dunbar to Helensburgh as part of the opening of the John Muir Way. Other events have included a Soulwind flash mob at the Electric Garden Festival in the Botanic Gardens in Glasgow.

Here are a few recordings to give you a feel for the kind of songs we sing. You may hear the waves lapping and the sea birds singing in the background.
